• Suggests healthier alternatives: When a product is rated poorly, Yuka can suggest healthier alternatives. 

• Independent project: Yuka is a 100% independent project, meaning no brand or manufacturer can influence its product evaluations or recommendations. 

• No ads: The app is ad-free. 

After I downloaded the app – I got the following in an email:

It amazes me that these young people can put all of this together.  I tried it on some of my “snacks” – OH NO – I am going to have to throw all of them away.  Well – maybe not.

How do they set up a data base like this; however, I did use it on some of my locally produced products and I guess that I just have to wing it with them – they were not in the Yuka database.  Maybe I’ll just eat a bunch of local garbage and be in ignorant bliss – and hope they don’t get weaseled into their database.  All things considered – I think this is a very useful app and I will use it.
